GBAGI EMULATOR FOR THE GBA
January 28 2004 - 9:46 am (CET) - Posted by Acey GAMEBOY ADVANCE

THE FOLLOWING IS TAKEN FROM THE AUTHOR'S WEBSITE:

GBAGI is a Sierra adventure game interpreter/emulator for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. With the use of a flash cart on your GBA, you can play all your AGI games on the portable. Not only can you play Sierra's adventure games, but also your own, and dozens of homebrew games made by other enthusiasts!

GBAGI is about 95% complete. It runs all the PC and Amiga AGI games, including version three games. I have no plans on working on it any further though, but it is completely open source, so you are welcome to do with it as you wish.

You can not actually download any of Sierra's games from this site. However, here you will find the GBAGI binary along with a tool which will add the Sierra games which you own to a GBA ROM for you to play. You also will find GBAGI ROMs packed in with demos that are freely available.

You can visit the website ( here )

DOLPHIN EMULATOR
January 27 2004 - 9:59 am (CET) - Posted by Acey GAMECUBE

One of the first attempts to make a GameCube emulator has finally paid off, for you aswell. www.dolphin-emu.com has been updated with the following news:

We've finally released what we've been working on in our spare time the last seven months. Dolphin is an experimental GameCube emulator that so far runs quite a few games somewhat, but most are pretty slow. Keep in mind that this release is just a preview, if it works good for you, if it doesn't please don't cry too much in the forum!

Have fun!

Recommended games to try (of course your own ripped GCMs of your legally bought discs):
Bust-a-Move 3000 (fully playable)
Crazy Taxi (slow, gfx glitches)
Zelda (slow, gfx glitches)
Mario (slow, gfx glitches)
18 Wheeler (slow, gfx glitches)
Ikaruga (slow, gfx glitches, crashes after four waves, but still cool)
and more..

A download is available from the website, enjoy! :)

It's seems that EasyBuy2000 isn't that trustworthy when it comes to the X-ROM 512 announcements, but their website has been updated again with the following message:

Jan. 19: Shipping will begin this week for the XROM! It is now in stock, so order yours today!

We'll just have to wait and see though, I guess ;-)

NINTENDO ANNOUNCES DUAL-SCREENED PORTABLE GAME SYSTEM

"Mystery" Product to Launch Later This Year

REDMOND, Wash., Jan 20, 2004 – An unprecedented approach to video game play —holding two separate game screens in the palm of your hand — hits the scene later this year when Nintendo introduces a new portable game system, code-named Nintendo DS.

From information made available today, players can look forward to being able to manage their game progress from two different perspectives, enhancing both the speed and strategy of the challenge. For example in a soccer game, users can view the whole game on one screen while simultaneously focusing on an individual soccer player's tackle or goal on the other screen.

Players will no longer be forced to interrupt game play to shift perspective, such as moving from a wide shot to a close up, or alternating between a character's ongoing battle and a map of the environment. Nintendo DS makes it possible to perform the tasks in real time by simply glancing from one screen to the other.

Today's announcement is but a glimpse of the additional features and benefits that will be shown in full at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles in May. Once fully revealed, players will see innovative advances in game interaction.

"We have developed Nintendo DS based upon a completely different concept from existing game devices in order to provide players with a unique entertainment experience for the 21st century," explains Satoru Iwata, Nintendo president.

Nintendo DS features two separate 3-inch TFT LCD display panels, separate processors, and semiconductor memory of up to 1 Gigabit. It's scheduled to launch worldwide before the end of 2004.

In addition to Nintendo-developed software, the company is in discussions with third-party game developers around the world.

Nintendo DS will be marketed separately from the company's existing Nintendo Game Boy® Advance portable system and Nintendo GameCube™ home console.

The worldwide leader and innovator in the creation of interactive entertainment, Nintendo Co., Ltd., of Kyoto, Japan, manufactures and markets hardware and software for its popular home and portable video game systems. Each year, hundreds of all-new titles for the best-selling Game Boy® Advance and Nintendo GameCube™ systems extend Nintendo's vast game library and continue the tradition of delivering a rich, diverse mix of quality video games for players of all ages. Since the release of its first home video game system in 1983, Nintendo has sold more than 1.8 billion video games globally, creating enduring industry icons such as Mario™ and Donkey Kong® and launching popular culture franchise phenomena such as Metroid™, Zelda™ and Pokémon®. A wholly owned subsidiary, Nintendo of America Inc., based in Redmond, Wash., serves as headquarters for Nintendo's operations in the Western Hemisphere.

GBA SP GOES FAMICOM STYLE
January 16 2004 - 8:14 am (CET) - Posted by Acey GAMEBOY ADVANCE
You may remember the limited edition GBA SP released in Japan, 1000 pcs, to celebrate the 20th Aniversary of the Famicom.

Now Nintendo is ready with a new version, more than 1000 pcs, probably due to the high demand for the sweet Famicom colored system.

The System comes with Super Mario Bros pack-in and later other Famicom (NES) classics, such as The Legend of Zelda, Pac-Man, Star Soldier, Donkey Kong, Ice Climber and Excitebike will be released.

The system will be yours for US$117 and the Famicom games will sell for US$19, though you have to be in Japan to obtain one as there's no plans to release it outside Japan.

It would appear that Code Junkies have released an updated version of the Advance Game Player, while we have yet to obtain a copy for review, we have discovered two games hidden in the original version.

The first game is is From Above which is a reworking of the classic Space Invaders game, and the Second game is In The Garden a simular reworking of the classic Centipede.

To unlock the two games, simply enter the following on the main menu screen.
Game 1: Hold down the X button and press Left on the dpad five times and Right once
Game 2: Hold down the Y button and press Left on the dpad five times and Right once

January 8 2004 - 7:32 am (CET) - Posted by Acey GAMEBOY ADVANCE

Borden has released V1.0 of the EZF-Advance windows software, which can be downloaded ( here ). The only changes are a few bug fixes and something called "import/export".

For those wondering if the Final means "no more software updates" then the answer is no, the software is just out of the beta stage, nothing more :-)
