WIDEBOY 64
Finally I am able to bring you a closer look on the Wideboy64, a Gameboy emulator for the Nintendo64 released by Intelligent Systems in Japan. Unfortunately this special Gameboy Emulator cartridge, which actually contains real Gameboy Color hardware - so i guess it's technically not an emulator but anyway it was only made available to developers, magazines and such.

By Intelligent Systems this version is known as Wide-boy64 for CGB and another version exist which is known as Wide-boy64 for AGB (Gameboy Advance).

The Wideboy64 features all the things a real Gameboy Color has, like the infared port and extension port for the Gameboy Printer and such. Aditionally there's a port on the left side of the cartridge port which I believe is used to some sort of debugging hookup?

Our little gadget here will play anyting from the original Gameboy games to Gameboy Color games, heck it'll even load up unlicensed stuff such as the Bible themed games produced by Wisdom Tree or the oddest pirate knockoffs like Sintax' Super Mario Bros wannabe game, Harry Boy.

But that's not it, because as an extra little feature the Wideboy has a zoom function which becomes very useful if you're going to make screenshots and wants to get rid of the border.

Back in 2000 when visiting ECTS in London, I noticed a Wideboy displaying a GBC prototype in a booth belonging to SunSoft. Unfortunately I can't remember what game it was, but it was the only game SunSoft had on diplay in their booth, on a very dusty display stand too :-)
